Heute fand das angekündigte Telefonat zwischen dem iranischen Unterhändler Saeed Jalili und dem EU Außenbeauftragte Javier Solana statt, von dem sich die P5+Deutschland Aufschluss erhofften, wie der Iran es nun mit einem Freeze als Voraussetzung für die Aufnahme von Gesprächen halten will.

“The conversation took place and Solana will report on it to the representatives of the group of six,” powers involved in the talks — Britain, China, France, Germany, Russia and the United States — a Solana spokesman told AFP in Brussels. (AFP)

Über den Inhalt des Telefonat wusste AFP nichts zu melden, aber Reuters brachte immerhin in Erfahrung, dass dies nicht das letzte Gespräch dieser Art gewesen sein soll und dass am Dienstag ein Brief aus dem Iran eintreffen soll.

A European Union official said the telephone call was “not conclusive” and Washington said it expected a written response from Tehran on Tuesday, warning of more sanctions unless it was “positive.” (Reuters)

Das sehen die P5+Deutschland ganz offensichtlich anders. In einer Telefonkonferenz einigten sich sie sechs Regierungen im Grundsatz darauf, mit der Beratung über eine neue Runde von Sanktionen zu beginnen, da bislang eine befriedigende Antwort ausgeblieben ist.

Dies schon einmal für den Fall, dass man in Teheran glauben sollte, die P5+Deutschland würden es mit den angedrohten Sanktionen nicht ernst meinen.

Der Iran hatte vorab schon mal auf seine Weise gedroht.
