Es ist noch ein bisschen früh, schon die nächste UN Resolution mit neuen Sanktionen gegen den Iran zu fordern, wie dies der Sprecher der US Vertretung bei den Vereinten Nationen, Richard Grenell, heute tat

“It is clear that the government of Iran has not complied with the international community’s demand to stop enriching uranium and isn’t even interested in trying,” Grenell said.

“They leave the Security Council no choice but to increase the sanctions, as called for in the last resolution passed,” he added. (Reuters1)

Noch reden beide Seiten miteinander. Der EU Außenbeauftragte Javier Solana und der iranische Chefunterhändler Saeed Jalili werden „bald“ miteinander telefonieren, gab eine Sprecherin Solanas heute bekannt.

“We expect a contact between Mr Solana and Mr Jalili soon by phone,” the spokeswoman said, a day after the informal deadline set by the powers for an answer from Iran. She gave no further details. (Reuters2)

State TV aired footage Sunday of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad saying “there is no way except talks and obedience to the law.”

He says Iran is “serious in nuclear talks” and hopes “the other side” will do the same. (AP)

Gestern hatte Ahmadinejad noch geschworen, der Iran werde in der Atomfrage keinen “Iota” nachgeben.

“In whichever negotiation we take part … it is unequivocally with the view to the realization of Iran’s nuclear right and the Iranian nation would not retreat one iota from its rights,” President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said in a statement. (Reuters2)
